Arlington Heights, Illinois Empire Beauty School Featured in Daily Herald Article: “Join Dist. 214 Alternative School in Cancer Fundraiser”

Empire Beauty School in Arlington Heights, Illinois was featured in the Daily Herald article, “Join Dist. 214 Alternative School in Cancer Fundraiser.”  The article announced “an important fundraiser event for cancer research and awareness” called “St. Baldrick’s Day.” The event took place in the theater of the Forest View Educational Center in Arlington Heights. The article stated that staff and students from Forest View Alternative School would “come together to donate money, get a haircut or have their heads shaved, all in the name of fighting cancer.”

Beauty school students from the Empire cosmetology school on West Rand Road in Arlington Heights were invited to the event to “assist in the snipping, shearing, and shaving of tresses.” After the Chicago area Empire Beauty School students provided the haircuts, “A minimum of 10 inches of hair” was “collected from participants and donated to Locks of Love, an organization that provides wigs for cancer patients.”

The article also pointed out that “The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.”
