Beauty On A Budget Headlines Spring Lake Park Event

by Empire Beauty School

beautyonabudget The Spring Lake Park Empire Beauty School hosted their 100 Days of Empire Open House Event with special guests, a large donation to their adopted shelter, a fashion show, and much more!

The students and staff presented the Women’s Advocates Inc., with a donation in the amount of $2,608.20.  The funds were raised during Empire’s National Day of Beauty event in October.  The money will help the residents of the shelter and provide them with personal care items as well as other needs.  “It was very gratifying to all that helped to be able to give back to others; it was an amazing day,” said Regional Director Julie Marques.

The school continued their celebration with a Beauty on a Budget themed event with individual classrooms where guests could learn economically beauty tips.  The first classroom was Foodie Facials, and showed guests how to use everyday items from the kitchen for a refreshing facial.  Students in the next two classrooms demonstrated how to give yourself a mini manicure and how to put hair up into different styles.  The final classroom offered beauty tips and fashion trends easily executed on a tight budget by simply mixing and matching the clothing you already have and adding various accessories.

The students also participated in a fashion show, and were judged on the before and after pictures of the model they made over.  The categories were: most dramatic changes, most trendy, best color and best overall look.  America’s Next Top Model contestant Raina Hein was also on hand to judge the fashion show and competition.  Hein attended all the Minnesota school open house events signing autographs and speaking to students. “Spring Lake Park did a stellar job!  Everyone was very excited about Raina,” added Marques.

While other students offered free beauty services and tours of the school, which brought in six new enrolling students and generated several new guests, a woman from Somalia painted Henna tattoos on guests.  Food, fun and karaoke filled the school as students also brought in their friends and family into the school throughout the day.
