bordentown-cosmetology-360  The Bordentown, NJ, Empire Beauty School recently participated in a 360o Program.  The Director of Education for the school Kathy Kaminski and Educator Aliza Golizio initiated the timing for the program to be held at the school.

The 360o Program is a new focal point for the Student Salon curriculum all Empire schools will receive.  The three-week program instructs the students on creating a unique and lasting impression with their clients based on the five full service steps; Welcome, Consultation, Shampoo, Styling and Closing.  The students learn skills to retain clientele, gain future referrals and increase income potential through selling beauty products for their clients to maintain their new look.

“I was pleasantly surprised at the excitement and creativity on just the first day.  The last three weeks were overwhelming; the students were smiling, working and selling retail!  They took pride in bringing their family and friends in as models to practice and get hands-on experience,” said Executive Director Louisa Correa.

On the last day of the program, a small party with pizza and a cake was enjoyed by the entire class and educators, including some karaoke during lunch break.

The students were then given a small survey to fill out on how they felt about the educational experience.  One student wrote, “The freedom to be creative, the teacher Ms. Sperry was great, very helpful and creative.  This is an awesome class and out teacher was wonderful and treated everyone equally.”  Another student wrote, “The spirit in the class and from the instructor motivated me and those around me to do great things…senior floor here I come!”

Other students suggested videotaping the class to demonstrate how helpful it is to work on models and how the 360o Program prepares students not just for the senior floor, but for the real world.

The students also put their new skills to the test during a friendly in-class competition.  They styled, cut and colored their mannequins, and all the students eagerly displayed their creations during the event.

“I have been with the corporation for several years and while my school is always hopping, the 360 class blew me away!  I just wanted to say thank you to my 360 students for sharing their motivation, creativity and vivacious spirit with the entire school here in Bordentown NJ!” added Correa.
