The Dunwoody Empire Beauty School celebrated moms and other family members who inspire the student by inviting them to come into the school for salon services, refreshments, entertainment, and various activities.
The school held an exciting event for the students during their open house event with a Future Pro Exp trial run. The school will have their actual qualifying FPE competition in a week so the students were thankful for the extra practice. The competition consisted of men’s cut and color, women’s cut and color, nails, makeup, long hair design and braiding. Each student who competed had one hour to complete their entry, just like they would at FPE. Welcomed guests were thrilled to observe the students in action as they created incredible designs on their mannequins.
The Dunwoody school also had its very own celebrating mom story within the school itself. Pam Raffa, a Student Services Coordinator at the school, and her daughter Jordi Chase are together every day since Jordi attends classes at the Dunwoody school during the day and works at the Kennesaw school at night. Pam has always been supportive of the decisions Jordi made, especially when it came to cosmetology school. “Attending Empire was the best decision I made – I really love what I do. Cosmetology lets me be creative and help people feel good about themselves,” said Jordi.
The Dunwoody school also presented a check to their local shelter. The students and staff at the school raised $1,757.05 for the Women’s Resource Center Against Domestic Violence shelter. The students felt a great sense of accomplishment and pride in giving back to the community.
