Empire Students Learn Business Etiquette At Princeton Dinner

Students from the Bordentown, NJ, Empire Beauty School took part in a social networking and esteem building program, and concluded the event with an etiquette class and three course meal at Princeton University.

“I really enjoyed the training and will take the information and apply it when conduction a business luncheon or dinner,” said George Jackson, a senior student at the Bordentown school who participated in the event led by the Ujima Urban Women Center.

The Ujima Urban Center provided the students with an educational program before taking the 20 students out to eat for an enlightening and elegant meal.  Students were given guidelines on proper dining etiquette such as expecting food to be served from the left, rubbing lemon around the brim of a glass of iced tea, and other polite tips while during a business dinner.

“Attending the business etiquette dinner was a wonderful experience.  We learned how to impress a potential investor as well,” added Felicia Turner, also a senior student who hopes to own her own business one day.

Kimberly Copeland, Life Skills Counselor for the Ujima Urban Women Center, believes self-esteem, vision and etiquette are integral components to career success and self-fulfillment.  Copeland also was a guest at the school speaking about conflict resolution in the workplace.  “She spoke about how to handle situations in a calm manner, how to avoid conflict, and how to act in a professional manner,” said Louisa Correa, Executive Director for the Bordentown school.

“The experience I had was great and I am going to carry it with me forever,” concluded Lakiesha Peeples, a senior student who also anticipates opening her own business after graduation.
