5 Spring Trends for 2015

by Megan Murray

Winter still has its icy grip on most of the country, and we are looking at some record breaking low temperatures. As crazy as it sounds, now is the perfect time to try some warm weather fashion and beauty.

Here are 5 Spring Trends you can add to your look right now!

Flower Power

It seems that every spring, floral prints come peeping through the snow like the season’s first crocus. This year, however, florals come bursting through like the fashion cavalry for a welcome relief from the dull winter landscape.  For Spring 2015, the flowers are bright, geometric, and used in unexpected ways.  Warm up your late winter wardrobe with a bold floral pant, or take the trend all the way to the next level with a suit jacket in a color like orange or red. If you are feeling more demure, try a floral dress paired with leggings until the sun comes out to play.

The Slick Pony

Along with frigid temperatures and icy conditions comes the unwanted hazards of hat head and dryness. So, it’s about time to hearken back to those days at the beach with a slick, sleek pony.  This look is more St. Tropez than playground, and hair has to be well conditioned, smooth, and pin straight.  This hair trend can be worn high to give you a lift or low to give you a touch of elegance. As a bonus, this hairstyle is great for keeping your hair out of your eyes while you are shoveling…because THAT is still happening.

Brown Smokey Eyes

Put grey skies behind you, and warm up your look with a touch of brown smolder.  Brown eye shadow was all over the Spring 2015 runways. This quieter neutral gives a surprisingly fresh approach to more dramatic eye shadow techniques.  Just remember to pick the brown that is right for your skin tone.  The wrong shade of brown can make you look cold and tired.

Layered Skirts

This fashion trend, also known as “apron skirting” is an easy way to invigorate your winter wardrobe. This fashion trend is as simple as adding a flirty mini skirt over a pencil skirt or as daring as a skirt over pants.  This look is a wearable and extremely practical fashion trend for those of us still battling arctic temperatures.  A flirty skirt and a pair of leggings is a fun every day look without the unfortunate side effects of wearing a skirt during the winter…cold weather girls will understand.

Negative Space Nail Art

Take the gloves off and try the spring season’s hottest nail trend.  Negative space nail art is everything you want in a nail trend: easy to wear, futuristic, and chic. This “floaty” look is also a great way to experiment with colors.  Since you are not painting the whole nail, bright and dark nail polish seem less overwhelming.  Also, with a little planning, no one will be able to notice that you chipped your manicure while hacking ice off of your car.

The best way to battle the ice and snow is with a sunny disposition. Brighten your mood by adding a spring beauty and fashion trends to your every day look!

What spring trends are you looking forward to trying? How do you feel about this never ending cold? What are you doing to stay warm and stylish?
