Women in Distress, a local shelter in Lauderhill, FL, humbly accepted a check from the Empire Beauty School students of the Lauderhill campus.
The students raised $1,125.70 for the shelter during Empire Education Group’s National Day of Beauty event in October.
Mary Riedel, President and CEO of Women in Distress of Lauderhill, delivered a moving speech to the students, staff and guests at the Celebrating Mom Open House event, and further explained how much she appreciated the school’s support and cooperation.
Guests of the open house event at the school also enjoyed pampering from the students and refreshments. The students also hosted a contest for their guests. Teams of four students worked on a mannequin to create a look of a popular sitcom mother.
“The Mom’s Day event was very rewarding and successful,” noted an Empire staff member of the event.
