Empire Beauty Schools Win Excellence in Education Awards

For the third year in a row, Empire Beauty Schools have been recognized by Modern Salon Media with several Excellence in Education awards. Empire won top honors in 2012 for school culture along with honorable mentions for community involvement and advanced education.

The awards were announced at the American Association of Cosmetology Schools’ annual convention. Empire won for sticking to its core values of integrity, dedication, team focus, continuous improvement, and commitment. Empire is also proud of its commitment to the community, with each campus participating in a variety of efforts to support local charitable causes as part of the Empire Gives Back initiative.

Empire has won top honors every year since Modern Salon began the awards in 2010.

Empire Students and Alumni Get Creative For Facebook

This past Spring Empire Beauty School launched a Facebook contest, dubbed “Lights, Camera, Glamour,” for current and former students. This contest was held for students to show off their abilities in the style of Up-Dos. In this video you will see the three winning styles presented by students and what their prizes were.

Our first place winner was Brittany Wenzel out of Eden Prairie, Minnesota with her chic up-do entry. Brittany won $1000 in beauty supplies and products with her more than 200 votes. Second place went to Lauren Page, a student in Avondale, Arizona. Third Place went to Marianne Guitierrez of North Tucson, Arizona.

At Empire our students celebrate all of their accomplishments and we can’t wait to see what they can do next.

Tour an Empire Beauty School

Welcome to Empire Beauty School in Paramus, New Jersey, one of over 100 Empire campuses across the country. Like other campuses, the Paramus Empire features a student salon where students have the opportunity to work on guests and practice their technical and consultation skills so they’re ready for salon work once they graduate.

Before students get to the student salon, they learn about hair, skin, and nail techniques in a classroom setting.

Another feature of the campus is a dispensary that allows students access to professional salon product lines that are standards in the industry.

Here at Empire Beauty School we love to show prospective high school students our campus and facilities, which is why we host Experience Day every year. Empire Beauty School’s Experience Day is a great way for a high school student to explore our classes and get a taste for what our students take away. Students who participate in experience day will have the opportunity to learn, participate, and create at one of our great locations. Students will work with professional tools and products while someone guides and teaches you what a day in the life of an Empire student is really like.

Empire Video News Release: Master Apprentice Kristie McGunnigle Update

From beauty school to the big city, our master apprentice winner , Kristy McGunnigle, is 6 months into her job at Arrojo Studio and she is learning through every minute of it. Kristy, a graduate from ,our Williamsport Pennsylvania campus beat out 500 other empire students for a chance to work as an apprentice at Arrojo in Manhattan’s trendy SoHo neighborhood. In the short time she has been there she has already come a long way.

“She is coming into her own, and I am really excited to see exactly what she is going to bring as a hair stylist because she is getting the skills that are going to bring her career to the next level and they will last her forever” – Nick Arrojo

McGunnigle assists a different stylist each day as well as takes Arrojo classes on unique styles and trends. The typical apprenticeship lasts about 18 months. Kristie plans on learning as much as she can while she is there.

“When you assist stylists, you get o se how they take their education that they learned and kind of tweak it to how they interact with their clients and how they go about a haircut” – Kristie McGunnigle

Nick Arrojo Holds Annual Expo in Chicago

NIck Arrojo and his team of master stylists recently took Chicago by storm. The famous stylist and his team of cosmetologists led the annual Empire Beauty School Expo in Chicago’s famous Lincoln Park. Nick and his team prepped their models at a local Empire Beauty School campus in Stone Park, Illinois. With guidance from Nick’s team of master stylists students were able to assist with model prep, helping color and shampoo. Stone Park students were also fortunate enough to get to have an afternoon with Nick demonstrating cuts and talking about his career before he left the Windy City.

Empire Video News Release: U.S. Congressman Lou Barletta Visits Empire Education Group

On March 19, 2013 Empire Beauty School hosted a round table discussion on the state of post-secondary education in the United States. This discussion was attended by Congressman Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania’s 11th precinct. This round table focused on post-secondary education but the topics varied from financial aid to education quality to ensuring skills meet the demands of the workforce. As a tested and dependable post-secondary institution Empire Beauty Schools are ideal candidates for just this sort of discussion. The biggest highlight of the discussion was that trades need to remain in focus while the economy improves.
