Check out everything that went down in Hershey, PA at Empire’s Future Professionals Expo 2011!
More than 2,500 Empire Education Group students and educators joined exhibitors and judges in Hershey Pennsylvania for the 2011 Future Professionals Expo.
Empire Education Group, the largest cosmetology school system in the U.S., held its largest ever student competition and trade show event bringing together students from the more than 100 Empire Beauty Schools and Hair Design Schools in 23 states across the country.
The highlight was of course, the intense competitions where student vie for first prize in several top categories, and the coveted Regional and National Students and Educators of the Year.
Empire’s Future Professionals attended a special Masters of Beauty presentation developed specially for them by TV Personality and 2 time platform artist of the year, Nick Arrojo. Nick and his team demonstrated the latest trends and techniques straight from New York City.
For the past year, the ARROJO team has been travelling the country with Empire, training stylist’s hands on with the Masters of Beauty Tours and Skill Classes.
While there, Nick and Empire CEO Frank Schoeneman made an announcement, certain to change one Empire student’s life. The pair unveiled Empire’s new Master Apprentice competition, in which one talented student will win $10,000 plus a position as an apprentice at Arrojo Studio in NYC.
Also presenting to students were platform artists like Rafe Hardy, Shannon Lamm, Ivan Zoot, and celebrities from the TV show Shear Genius, like Brig Van Osten and Ben Mollin.
These special guests represented the well known brands, Goldwell, Matrix, Sexy Hair, ISO, McBride, and Odyssey.
More than 100 exhibitors presented their latest products and styles to students on the Trade Show Floor. Everything from extensions, to tools, to nail skin and hair products were available for students to test and buy.
Students in attendance also had the opportunity to meet with potential future employers at the Network Café. Here attendees could learn more about job opportunities with companies like, JC Penny Salons, Master Cuts, Sports Clips, Smart Style, and Great Clips.
Of course, Future Professionals Expo is a lot of fun too. Empire treated students to an exclusive evening at Hershey Park with the rides opening up just for them.
Amy Schumer from Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central and Fuse was back for a 3rd year as Empire Education Group’s special guest correspondent.
Style Expert and Host of Elle and Vogue TV Lilliana Vasquez interviewed all the winners of the competitions live during the awards ceremony.
The weekend wrapped up as Empire handed out the prizes to the 1st through 5th place winners of the live competitions and other awards.

http://www.empire.edu/future-pro-expo First Competition was Long Hair Evening Design, featuring intricate updos, and variations on classic and modern styles students learn at Empire.
Female Trend Cut and Style with Color is where the artistic side of our students take over. With every style, a uniquely designed creation competitors have just one hour to perfect the cutting, coloring and styling of their mannequin.

In the Artistic Braided Design Style category, students intricately weave and braid some of the most beautiful and trendy styles to create a harmonious and original design.

Men’s Trend Cut and Style challenges competitors to duplicate styles and trends inspired from the covers of the top fashion and trade publications.

New this year, is the Twisted Texture Challenge. In this competition, students must integrate styles and trends inspired by increased movement in the hair, presenting a balanced and high fashion look.

In Empire’s first ever LIVE make up competition; students showed make up application through every phase of the makeup creation process.

The Nail Art Display category is one of the most visually intricate and detailed competitions, allowing students free reign for their creativity to take over. Student had one hour to build, paint, glue and design their nail art displays.

Also recognized were Future Professionals of the Year, from every one of our 102 Empire Education Group locations.

The final award at Empire’s Future Professionals Expo recognizes the team with the superior performance during the competition.
