The Midlothian Empire Beauty School students have the opportunity to participate in local events benefiting the community as well as contributing to real-world training. Some of these events include day of beauty services for local patrons, fundraising benefits and more. Proceeds from Empire's National Day of Beauty event benefits raising awareness about domestic abuse. The students also may participate in local and national competitions, as well as the school's own beauty shows to highlight the students' skills and talents. Empire's Future Professionals Expo offers students exposure to the beauty industry, as well as beauty workshops headed by industry professionals, mentoring and students also are able to network and interview with salon leaders and representatives to further their career objectives.
"I started with small goals…first working at a makeup counter, then getting my cosmetology certificate and license, then getting my first job. Then I wanted to move to a big salon, and after that open my own salon and hire stylists. Now I have the opportunity to perform on stage with Nick Arrojo--it is really incredible.
