slpgrandopeningEmpire Education Group announced the grand opening of a new Beauty School in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, during a press conference.  The 9,100 square-foot school, located in the Fridley/Northtown Mall area, will offer Empire’s exclusive Certified Learning in Cosmetology (CLiC) curriculum, feature state-of-the-art Teamboard teaching technology, and a host of faculty and staff on hand to prepare future beauty professionals for a career in cosmetology.

Empire Education Group also discussed the organizations charity initiative called Empire Gives Back, which offers awareness on the prevalence of domestic abuse.  Cosmetology students at the new school will receive training in indentifying the signs of abuse in their clientele and how to direct them toward safety.  The program, a multi-platform campaign launched during a Philadelphia press conference in August, also offers victim support, educational efforts, public awareness and an informative web site.  Empire Beauty School students receive their specialized training through CUT IT OUT, an anti-domestic violence organization closely tied to Empire Education Group, and learn how to appropriately respond to potential domestic abuse victims.

“We are proud to give the community, and our industry partners based in Minneapolis, a first-hand look at our campaign against domestic violence, Empire Gives Back.  The dedicated efforts of our students and educators give this program the potential to truly make a very positive impact in the Twin Cities communities and the nation,” said Franklin K. Schoeneman, Chairman and CEO of Empire Education Group during the press conference.

CUT IT OUT and Empire Education Group initiated the relationship to train the cosmetology students after reports indicated salon professionals are skilled and experienced listeners with a vested interest in their clientele, and provide a safe environment for victims to begin an open communication about personal abuse.

Empire Education Group owns and operates the former Scot Lewis Schools in Bloomington, St. Paul and Eden Prairie, MN, which were recently re-branded to the Empire Beauty School name and curriculum.  The nationally accredited schools join Empire’s additional 84 cosmetology schools to form one of the largest cosmetology school systems in North America.

The new Spring Lake Park Empire Beauty School will also participate in fundraising efforts for Empire Education Group’s National Day of Beauty.  The October event will donate all proceeds from one day of hair, skin and nail services performed by Empire students, to a local women’s shelter in each of the school’s 87 locations in recognition of Empire Gives Back.
