During the summer hot months most of us like to cool off by hanging out at pools or vacation at the beach. With the heat and the humidity that comes along with summer who wants to spend time fussing with their hair? I bet nobody, but yet we still have to make sure we look good…you just never know when someone is going to snap that picture that you know will be on Facebook. So instead of just settling for pulling your hair back in a simple boring ponytail lets look at some easy styles that are more stylish that will give you that perfect summer beach look.

Fishtail Braid

This is the perfect sea inspired style to wear at the beach and is easy enough for you to do it yourself. For a messier look, leave your natural texture or apply some mousse and gel to give it some texture then separate the hair using just your fingers. For a smoother braid, make sure hair is brushed out and keep it smooth as you are braiding.  Note: If keeping it smooth, it is best to use dirty hair for better hold.  Here is a short video that shows you step by step how to create this look.

Top Knot

This is great to keep your hair out of your face and also help protect your hair from the sun’s harmful rays; as most of your hair will be concealed with this look. To make the perfect top knot you will need to make sure you hair is full of texture. Add some mousse or gel and blow dry your hair upside down. Next, gather all of your hair in a ponytail as high as you can on the top of your hair. Then, tease your hair that is in the ponytail. When you are done take the teased hair and wrap it around the base of the ponytail and pin with bobby pins.  Pull a couple of pieces down around your face for a more messier look.

This look is great for both shorter and longer lengths of hair. You can create so many different looks with small braids… braid across the forehead, pull your sides back with a braid on each side or just have a couple of small braids throughout your hair and then pull your hair back. The possibilities are endless and still very cool for the summer, a night out or day in the office.
