What Makes One Cosmetologist Better Than The Other?

What makes one cosmetologist better than the other? Is it the number of specialty classes taken on a specific skill? Maybe it’s the number of hours spent practicing techniques to make sure everything comes out just right, when on stage in front of a guest? Let me break down what I believe helps to set apart one stylist from another; Customer Service.

In our industry, skills alone will not guarantee customer retention. Guests want something more that they won’t get from anyone else. When they find it, they will gladly return. It’s not only about being able to cut the perfect bob, or being able to rock out the latest trend. Customers want conversation; they want to feel welcomed and appreciated. Above all, they want to feel special. They chose to walk in the door and pay their hard earned money for not only the services we provide to them but also for something that seems to be taken very lightly nowadays- Awesome Customer Service.

 

How can we define awesome customer service? To me, this one is simple. It’s genuinely paying attention to the needs and wants of your guest. It’s having a conversation with them that comes from the heart. It’s hanging up their coat for them on a cold day, and offering them a cool beverage when there is a heat wave. It’s not letting them leave until you know they are completely satisfied with their service. 

 

We have an incredible chance with every customer who sits in our chair, and if we choose to take it, we may just find ourselves being repaid with loyalty for many years to come. To sum things up, it’s using your talents to make them feel their very best and being incredibly proud to do so.
