Why Cosmetology Educators Will Get You

by Lori Hudak

Think about your favorite teacher. Why did you like him or her? What was it that made them so memorable for you?

Very few of us will say that our favorite teacher wrote excellent notes or that we enjoyed their exams. Instead, we mention their spirit.

Favorite teachers inspire us. Favorite teachers enjoy helping us learn. Favorite teachers give us endless support and confidence.

Hopefully, you had a teacher in the past who understood your creativity and passion. Sometimes, though, creativity can be stifled– that’s why high school isn’t always fun for everyone – it can feel as if no one ‘gets’ you.

The great news about Cosmetology Educators is that they want you to be passionate. They embrace your creativity – and they know how to channel it into a career. They love the Beauty Industry – in fact, they love it so much they want to help you enter the field and become a successful cosmetologist.

Your Educators were once in your shoes. They made the decision to become a cosmetologist, just like you. They know your interests because they have them too. They understand what it’s like to lose yourself in a design – because they do too. They too watch TV, looking at the styles of the celebrities. They sketch out their creative ideas for hair, nails and makeup.

Your teachers know what it takes to become a licensed cosmetologist who works successfully in the Beauty Industry. They will know how to use the skills you currently have and make them better. You will learn techniques and tips of the trade from them. They will tell you stories about what life is like in salons. They will care about you and support you – even when a haircut is a little uneven, a haircolor turns out brassy, or acrylic nails don’t adhere. Your teacher won’t mind; they will help you even the haircut, tone the brassiness, and help you redo the nails.

Your Educators will ‘get’ you because they are you. Yes, they have more experience, but deep down, you have the same interests and talents. And, you both know that you can make a difference in people’s lives and work in the industry you love.
