As a Platform Artist, you are first and foremost at the top of your game.  Platform Artists traditionally work with Vendors or Brands in the industry and are oftentimes the “Face of the Brand” in many respects.  As a Platform Artist you will be travelling around to many industry events and performing on stage for any number of industry professionals.  As a Platform Artist you could also be conducting more individualized classes and events as well.  Platform Artists are regarded as the Subject Matter Experts in their craft.  Many of which specialize in a particular area of the industry, for example: Haircolor or Haircutting.   Part of being a Platform Artist is also the preparation phase which includes: model selection, wardrobe and a specialized hair plan prior to the model being on stage.  Many people that reach this status travel internationally.  Most if not all Platform Artists still practice their craft in a salon or spa in their hometown.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct classes at industry events
  • Conduct Main Stage shows at industry events
  • Create the content for the classes and shows that will be delivered
  • Collaborate with others on the content and delivery of the classes and shows
  • Lead a team of others that are “back stage” to assist with the execution of the looks
  • Be the innovator of trends 
  • Always know the details of the product lines you represent

*Salary & Pay scale information

  • This will range the more value you bring to the table
  • Most Stage work is done by contract
  • Travel expenses are covered for the work you will be doing

Schedule

As a Platform Artist you will most definitely work weekends.  Most industry events are through the weekend.  Your schedule will also include 1-3 days of preparation depending on the scale of the event.  Since being a Platform Artist is for the most part session work or a contract per event, you will still have flexibility in the number of events you do per year.  As you build your brand as an Artist, you will also be able to choose locations and sizes of events to participate in.
