What’s the 48 Hour Rule to be a Successful Stylist?

Clipper GuyHurry! Try what you just saw. You are working against the clock. You cannot escape the 48 hour rule of cosmetology education. This rule covers all of what you will learn in beauty school and continuing education throughout your entire career.

The 48 hour rule of cosmetology education states, if you are exposed to something you like or think you can use… You have just 48 hours to put it into practice. Give it a try. Cut the neighbors. Cut the kids. Cut the dog. Someone needs to get cut. You need to take the skill from observation to application within the 48 hour window. Otherwise it is likely gone.

This is one of the reasons why I always enjoy presenting hands-on clipper classes. I cut and you watch, then you cut and I help. Any chance you have, every chance you get to take a hands-on workshop, do it. You will find it to be a powerful way to take your learning and skill adoption to warp speed. A hands-on workshop is like a regular class with a can of Red Bull.

Hands-on workshops are also a great way for a presenter to measure their effectiveness. You can present every week and never know if attendees ever really grasp and use what you have shared. How well participants do in the hands-on portion is a reflection of their skills and your ability to make a point and clearly share a concept.

My favorite part of hands-on workshops is the way the floor looks after the class is over. An entire classroom, ankle deep in hair, is a beautiful sight.

I look forward to working with you at a hands-on workshop soon.
Happy clippering!
