5 Spooktacular Ways to Flaunt your Halloween Style

by Megan Murray

For beauty professionals, it is the most wonderful time of the year! Halloween is time of drama, experimentation, and creativity with hair, makeup, nails and fashion.

In a perfect world, October would be 31 days of liquid latex, avant garde hairstyles, and carefully crafted costumes. Unfortunately, real life often demands a subtle look.

Never fear!

Here are some tips and tricks to help you flaunt your Halloween Style.

1.  Terrifying Texture

For a hair look that is both runway and a gothic horror, try a crimped style. This hairstyle has returned from the dead so many times, it should have full zombie status. If going full-on fright is not for you, mix curls, crimps, and straight pieces for a fairy princess look.  This is Halloween, and it is the time to bring cutting edge looks to the light of day.

2.  Intergalactic Brows and Lashes

One of the hottest trends for the upcoming spring season is the bejeweled eyebrow, and this is the time of year to be futuristic and fashion forward.   Add beads, jewels, sequins, and metallic color for a science fiction take on the bold brow. If you can’t go full- on alien, fill your brows with a shimmery blue or green eye shadow for a subtle take on this intergalactic style.  While brows can be tricky, fake lashes are easy and available in an array of styles and colors.  Add neon green eye eyelashes to simple makeup for an everyday style that is out of this world.

3.  Werewolf Nails

This howlingly stylish nail art (see what I did there?) is a chic way to tear up this holiday season. This look manages to be both modern and feral and allows you to experiment with a new nail shape…without the full moon.  If you are feeling a bit less put together, add some black stitches to your French manicure to give your look a little creature feature.

4.  Living Dead Lips

Everyone is talking about the “statement lip,” and the statement your lips should be making is, “ I want to suck your blood.”  Take a trendy deep berry lipstick and pair it with black liner for a look that is fashionably undead.  This lip style lends itself to dramatic application.  Make sure your lip line is crisp and a bit overdrawn for a bit of Supernatural flair (without the dead man’s blood).

5.  Haunting Hair Accessories

Hair accessories are the perfect touch when a full costume is just not possible.  A full garland of flowers, a beaded headband, or a feathered clip can look both polished and fun.  Tie a scarf on your head for a pirate feel, or add strips of white gauze for a spooky side braid. All you need is some fabric and a dream!

Take a cue from the runways to have the most fashionable Halloween, ever! This is a time for experimentation. So, take a step away from your every day and try something unexpected. Remember, more is more and the only limits are your imagination.

Now, here comes the fun part! Show us your Halloween Style!
