pittsburgh school donatesThe West Mifflin Empire Beauty School kicked off their 100 Days of Empire open house event with a donation to the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh in the amount of $830.85.

The funds were raised during Empire Education Group’s National Day of Beauty event and the school’s own fundraising initiatives throughout the year to aid the local women and children shelter.

During the Hollywood-theme event celebrating the 100 Days of Empire, students and staff offered tours of the school to possible future beauty students in the area and performed free beauty services such as haircuts and styles and manicures to the welcomed guests attending the event.

Ulta and Hair Force, two local salons, were present at the school for the event. The salon representatives spoke to the guests about job opportunities and networked with the students regarding their careers in the beauty industry. The school also held a popcorn sale and a Chinese auction with hair and skin care products. Proceeds from the sales went to the school’s Future Professionals Expo fund.

The students then hosted a celebrity look-a-like contest.  There were teams of students who helped dress and style their “celebrity’s” hair and makeup. Among the celebrities chosen were Amy Winehouse, Jaime Foxx, Rihana, Lady Gaga complete with an entourage, Prince, and Snoop Dog. The “celebrity” students walked down the red carpet to their popular songs.
