Wisconsin Schools Donate Nearly $4,000 to Local Shelters

appleton-beauty-schoolThe Green Bay, Appleton and Manitowoc Empire Beauty Schools each held individual 100 Days of Empire Open House events and donated nearly $4,000 to their local domestic abuse shelters; Family Violence Center—Golden House, The Domestic Violence Center and Harbor House Domestic Abuse.

The Green Bay Empire Beauty School hosted a job fair for the current students and graduates of the school. With six local salons on hand, the future professionals were able to network and discuss possible career opportunities. In addition to the festivities, the school paid tribute to Michael Jackson during their celebration with a projector that played Michael Jackson’s videos and songs throughout the day, as the students held a competition. The competition was judge based on best Michael Jackson performance, hair, makeup and attire.

The Manitowoc Empire Beauty School celebrated their event with a Mardi Gras theme. The students hosted a team competition. Each team was made up of four students, as they were judged on hair, dress and makeup. The winning team received a lunch party and a dress down week. A local salon employee from Jumanji Salon in Sheboygan also presented an updo class and Empire alumni Rosheed Buford offered a demonstration on lining and designing men’s cutting.

The Appleton Empire Beauty School students participated in an up-do competition as well, to go with their Red Carpet theme, and held a fashion show at the school. As each student dressed in their favorite red carpet attire and walked the runway, information about the students were announced. Information ranged from what they liked to do in their spare time, what they wanted to do when they graduated, favorites, and more. All of the schools offered free beauty services and tours of classrooms and the salon to welcomed guests, local community leaders and others attending the event.
