First Responders Day 2014

by Jess Quandel

Empire Education Group schools recently held their annual First Responders Day event, inviting local Firefighters, Police Officers and Emergency Medical Technicians to enjoy one complimentary service at the student salon.

Each of Empire’s 110 schools in 21 states took part in the event. The First Responders were treated to the complimentary service by students under the supervision of licensed instructors.

The day is a way to say thank you to the First Responders who are often on the front lines of Domestic Violence related incidents.

Empire supports various anti-domestic violence programs throughout the country through its Empire Gives Back campaign.

Schools do various forms of fundraising throughout the year for local shelters they partner with or ‘adopt’. Empire Education Group also offers shelter residents Educational Endowments to help pay for their education should they want to attend beauty school.

Empire also supports Cut It Out, a training program designed to teach salon professionals the warning signs of abuse. The Cut It Out program is taught throughout our system of schools educating future professionals on the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and how to provide the number should a client confide abuse.

The public can help in our mission by supporting our annual National Day of Beauty. Held each October, this one day event donates an entire day’s revenue from all of our student salons to the local shelters those schools support.
