Questions to Ask When Touring a Beauty School

by Alexandra Luce

Before your first visit, compile a list of questions you would like to ask your Career Planning Specialist, or CPS. They are a wealth of information and are there to help you with anything you may need.  Your CPS will guide you through the process of transitioning from your first visit to your first day of class as an enrolled student. No matter how trivial you may feel the question is, it will more than happily be answered.

Tell me about the programs

The CPS will also ask you some questions to find out what motivates you and what makes you want to pursue a career in beauty.

If you feel lost on what to inquire about, there are some good places to start. Think about what it is that you are most excited to learn. Whether it is cutting, coloring, facials, or pedicures, your CPS is familiar with their school’s curriculum and can share with you the sorts of activities you will do while in attendance. It will also help them to show you the parts of the school that will be most relevant to your interests. Without knowing what you’re most excited about, you may only have the chance to glance over what it is you’re most anticipating about your time at Empire.

What will I learn at Beauty School?

You should also think about what it is you would like the school to have for you to feel happy and comfortable. This is different for everyone; it may be group activities, small class sizes, or lots of hands on time with your mannequins. Regardless of your qualifications for choosing a school, your first visit isn’t about discovering if you’re right for Empire, it’s to find out if Empire is right for you! Your CPS would hate to miss the chance to tell you about one of the many wonderful offerings at the campus that would put your mind at ease over becoming a student because they did not know it was one of your qualifications.

What is the atmosphere like at beauty school?

As you take a tour of the school you will meet our educators and current students.

One of the most important things to ask about is the atmosphere. Empire prides itself on creating the type of environment that will be most beneficial to your learning. While this is something you will probably notice as soon as you walk through the doors, the faculty and staff wants your school to be a place you will be excited to come to every day. Every question you ask should be one that will make you feel comfortable and more excited about joining the Empire community.

What transportation is available around the school?

Lastly, if you have any questions about transportation, let your CPS know. They are familiar with transit to and from the school and are there to make sure you choose the schedule that will work best for you. Their goal is to make sure that when you start school that it is the perfect time for you. Share any information you feel will be relevant to this decision, such as work schedules or childcare, to make the most of your first appointment.

Choosing a beauty school is a very important decision to make and the CPS is there to help guide you and answer any questions that you have…no matter how silly you think the question is.
