Happy 2019 and welcome to another year of possibilities! Beginning on New Year’s Day and the days/weeks that follow, you’ll hear a lot of talk. Talk of resolutions, dreams, plans and change. It’s a time we consider ways to make life better, often with a mental to-do list of self-improvement ideas for the new year.

For many, a new job or career change tops this wish list. This time, don’t let it end there. Let this be the year where you take action and explore your true potential. Be sure to assess what makes you most excited, and then choose a career to fit that mold. If you want to consider one that’s rewarding and different, why not choose cosmetology? Here’s what makes it appealing:

Cosmetology is Fun

That’s right, fun. Bet you never thought school can be fun by design, but this one is! By creating a hands-on, interactive and engaging environment, cosmetology classrooms create a doorway to the change you’ve been craving. You won’t sit all day staring at a book. Technology and creativity are yours from day one!

Flexible Schedules for Classes and Career

Are you dreading the 9-5 grind? Or maybe currently stuck in that loop and looking for a way out? Creative personalities usually like flexibility, and the beauty industry offers it. Later, when you become a licensed beautician, the schedules are uniquely structured and offer free time that nine-to-fivers don’t get to experience.

Great Option for Mid-Career Change

The new year marks a time to wipe the slate clean and start anew. If your current job makes you feel hopeless and your career future looks bleak, no one can change that but you. Take the leap of faith and do something different. Cosmetology school takes less time, and the atmosphere is interactive. You’ll fit in even if you’re older than conventional post-secondary students. Cosmetology school opens its arms and welcomes everyone.

It’s Not Only for Hair

Yes, hair is a big part of the curriculum, but there’s so much more. You’re sure to find your niche within the courses offered. Become an expert in nails, which is trendy and not going away anytime soon. Maybe skin care is your forte. Esthetician classes will get you there. Or, if you’ve always had a knack for giving advice, grow that skill into becoming a teacher in beauty school. Yep, you can take cosmetology educator courses to pass along your knowledge. You’ll feel rewarded when students excel because you helped make it happen.

Cosmetology is Practically Recession-Proof

While employees in many industries are being replaced by machines, cosmetologists haven’t met this same fate. One reason is that cosmetology requires creative, hands-on talent applied uniquely to each customer. Also supporting the beauty biz is a modern-era importance on appearance: selfies, social media, and anti-aging. Computers can’t work the same magic as cosmetologists, so the field remains job-friendly.

Make your mark this new year, and take strides toward the big changes you look for every January. After all, you’ve always wanted to do this…why not now?
