April 28, 2010

Empire Beauty School in Bangor, Maine was featured in the St. John Valley Times article, “Former Fraser worker named NMCC’s student of year.”  The article talks mainly about 57-year-old Robert Gagnon of Madawaska who graduated with an associate’s degree from Northern Maine Community College and was named “Student of the Year.” A 1970 graduate of Madawaska High School, he accepted an early buyout from the Fraser Papers mill and pursued his dream by attending classes in both Madawaska and Presque Isle.

According to the St. John Valley Times article, “In addition to inspiring fellow students and others at NMCC, Gagno has also served as an inspiration in his own household. Following her husband’s lead, Diana Gagnon has enrolled in classes as well. She now attends Empire Beauty School in Caribou” on Skyway Drive.
