milwaukee-philly-schoolMilwaukee Educator Lynn Grassy, took some time off from her teaching position in Wisconsin to work in the hair and make-up department of Broadway’s Spamalot.

The traveling theatrical show, based on the Monty Python and the Holy Grail film, made a stop in Philadelphia, PA.

During some down time during the show’s production, Grassy went for a walk and came across the Center City Philadelphia Empire Beauty School.  After she stopped in to visit students and colleagues, Grassy was invited back to teach a specialty class.  Grassy gave the students a glimpse into the world of hair and make-up for musical theater and discussed different aspects of applying make-up, working with hair, wigs and more.  Grassy enjoyed working with the students at Center City Philadelphia school and sends a special thank you to the students and staff for the great experience.

Spamalot earned the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005 and eventually ended its run in January 2009.  Former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken played a leading role in the musical as Sir Robin.
