5 Ways Spring can Send Your Beauty Career into Full Bloom

by Jess Quandel

1. Brides, Brides and more Brides!

In Spring, love is in the air and beauty professionals can build their business by marketing their services to brides-to-be.

Bridal hair and makeup can be a lucrative business if you know where to market yourself.
Be sure to leave brochures and business cards with wedding-oriented businesses, such as bridal shops, florists and caterers.

Join online bridal communities like ‘The Knot’ and others. Try teaming up with other businesses that specialize in weddings. The more photographers, wedding planners and cake decorators you know, the greater chance for referrals.

Consider taking your services “on the road.” Many brides are looking for stylists that will come to them on their wedding day. Offering on-site services can make you even more attractive to brides and their bridal parties.

2. Prom!

Seems like there’s a prom-a-week in the springtime. And that’s a whole lot of teen hair that needs styling!  Offering prom packages can be a great way to market to prom-goers whose parents are looking for a deal.

Make sure to give extra business cards to your teen clients. Teens share everything—including stylists!

3. Graduations & Special Occasions

Give the gift of YOU in the springtime! Selling gift certificates for your services can bring you new Guests and extra income!

People give gifts for Easter, graduations, Mothers Day, and more. Why not sell your services as a gift?

Just one new Guest can lead to more if they like what you do!

4. The Feet!

Ever try to get a pedicure appointment on a Saturday in April? It’s nearly impossible. Pedicure stations are packed with people getting ready for sandal season.

Spring can bring an onslaught of new business. Make sure to have the latest polish colors available and knowing a few new, cute springtime nail art techniques will keep Guests coming back for more!

5. Change of Seasons

Like those first rays of warm sun, a new cut or color can make the world seem so much brighter.  As springtime breaks, talk with your Guests about updating their look. Even if they don’t make the commitment right away, they will be thinking about making a change, which just might bring them back sooner.

Try to keep the latest magazines and look-books in your salon with the current seasons’ latest styles. The more ideas you can offer your Guests, the better the chance they will find something new they are willing to try!
