What Is Cosmetology?
Cosmetology is the study of beautification—the practice of providing makeup, skin, nail, and hair services. Cosmetologists study the most recent advances in hair care, skin care, and makeup techniques. They help clients achieve their beauty and styling goals and can assist in maintaining the general health of the skin and hair. Services can include hair cutting, styling, cosmetic applications, and basic skincare treatments.

Empire Beauty School has over 70 school locations across 21 states.
How old do you have to be to attend?
A Student must meet the state minimum age requirement to enter school (if applicable)
What are the school hours?
All Empire Beauty Schools operate year round. The school operating hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 10:00pm* and Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Saturday hours vary by location. Contact the school for Saturday operating hours. *Not all schools offer evening classes. The class scheduling will depend on which program schedule was chosen: full time vs part time.
What do I need to enroll?
In order to enroll at Empire Beauty School the following is needed:
- A copy of a valid state or federal issued photo identification
- A copy of high school diploma or its equivalent, such as a copy of GED certificate or copy of transcript showing high school completion.
- A Career Planning interview
- The required application fee(s)
- A Complete Enrollment Package
All incoming Empire Beauty School students must attend an orientation which wi ll be held prior to the start of the program. During orientation the student will learn about responsibilities and standards, the format of the program, the progression of the program, and how performance will be measured.
What is the dress code?
Students at Empire Beauty School are held to the beauty industry standard professional dress code. We require all students to present themselves in a professional manner with regard to attire, personal hygiene and appearance. Students should dress in a manner that is appropriate for a business setting, is not offensive to Guests, and is safe to wear while performing services. Clothing must be clean and neat and must fit appropriately, being neither too tight or too loose. Additionally, dress codes must meet individual state requirements. For most of our programs, tops and bottoms must be black. School issued name tags must be worn at all times.
Do you offer courses in Spanish?
Empire Beauty School only teaches classes in English.
Do you offer Scholarships?
Empire Beauty Schools along with other community groups & organizations offers many scholarships to those that qualify. The following scholarships are available through Empire Beauty Schools: Empire Beauty School High School Scholarship, Empire Beauty School Good Attendance Scholarship, Empire Beauty School Gives Back Cosmetology Educational Endowment Program.
What programs do you offer?
Empire Beauty School offers a variety of programs including cosmetology, esthetics/aesthetics, and educator training. Our curriculum is designed to train future professionals in the skills they need to succeed in the industry.
Do you need a high school diploma or GED to attend?
You do need a copy of a high school diploma or its equivalent to enroll.
Are books and equipment included?
All books and professional tools are included as part of the student kit.
