2019 Prom Trends

by Megan Murray

Prom 2019 is right around the corner, and this year’s fashions promise to be glamorous, dramatic, and flattering for everyone.

Here are the hot styles to look out for when shopping for your spring formal:

Metallic

Take inspiration from Lady Gaga at the Grammy Awards in the stunning silver Celine gown. Metallic dresses are hot this year. Gold and Rose-Gold promise to be the most popular colors but take into account your own coloring and personal style.  These dresses are definitely dramatic and are best paired with subdued hair and make-up choices.

Ball Gowns

If there ever was a time to live out your princess fantasies, it is prom! Full and frilly ball gowns are making a comeback. For an extra touch of fairy tale style, choose a ball gown with a lace up back. These gowns can be dramatic in jewel tones or airy in pastels.  Ball gowns demand beautifully crafted up-do’s and lots of lashes. More is MORE with this look!

Floral Prints

The folklore look is not going away any time soon, and floral prom dresses are still hot for the 2019 season. From bold to dreamy, floral prints are a fresh, feminine way to stand out from the crowd. These ethereal looks pair well with long flowing hair, bohemian hair accessories, and the “ glow from within” make up look.

Green

Green is a surprisingly fresh, new look in formal dresses. From a rich emerald to an acid shock, there is a green that flatters every skin tone. Green also looks amazing with the Pantone Color of the year, Coral.

Tuxedo

For the VERY fashion forward, a beautifully tailored tuxedo can be very feminine and very, very chic. This daring look, paired with smoky eye shadow and red lipstick will let everyone know you are FIERCE!

While trends are good for inspiration, prom fashion is about what makes you feel your best. Want to wear your mom’s prom gown from the ’90s? Do it! Want to wear avant-garde hair and make-up? Go for it (also, send pictures)! Prom is your time to shine.
