Empire Education Group and Nick Arrojo team up to offer one lucky stylist a top of the line education package that includes the opportunity to perform with Nick, live on stage, at Masters of Beauty.

New York, NY-March 6, 2011-For every stylist who has dreamed of becoming a platform artist, Empire Education Group is offering the opportunity of a lifetime.

Empire’s award-winning Masters of Beauty Skills Certification Program, featuring hands-on training with Nick Arrojo, has been touring the country since last year. Now, Empire and Arrojo have kicked off a new online contest to give away nearly $50,000 worth of education packages and cash prizes.

The first place winner receives a high-end education package that culminates with the chance to present on stage with Nick at selected Tour of Beauty dates in 2012, plus $10,000 cash.

The contest, announced during Arrojo’s main stage performance at the International Beauty Show in New York City, is exclusively on-line.

Stylists will register and upload a photo of their work onto the contest’s Facebook pagewww.facebook.com/mastersofbeauty. There, they can enter one of three categories-cutting, coloring, or styling. The public will vote, and then combined with input from Nick and his team, quarter-finalists will be chosen and asked to upload 2-3 minute videos highlighting them and their work. From 10 semi-finalists, 3 finalists will travel to New York to vie for the coveted title, announced at IBS in New York in March 2012.

“I love the concept of this contest, because it’s really what Masters of Beauty is all about,” says Nick Arrojo. “The Tour already provides stylists across the country with amazing advanced education, at a price they can afford, right in their own city. This contest takes that one step further, by giving one lucky winner not only hands-on training from me and the Masters of Beauty team, but the opportunity to make a name for themselves on stage.”

“For a stylist to be able to add this to his or her portfolio is amazing,” says Frank Schoeneman, chairman and CEO of Empire Education Group. “Platform work combined with the education package the winner receives could open so many doors for this lucky beauty professional. We are thrilled to be able to partner with Nick and take Masters of Beauty to a whole new level.”

Masters of Beauty is a traveling Skills Certification Program, offering hands on, non-product specific, advanced education to stylists. The Masters of Beauty Tour is currently traveling to six cities per year.

“We come to stylists,” says Arrojo. “Until Masters of Beauty, stylists in cities like Phoenix, Louisville and Philadelphia had to travel to New York or Chicago to get this type of training. Through Masters of Beauty, we are reaching more stylists in more areas, truly elevating the art of hairdressing in America.”

“As we head into our second year of this program, we are working on all new trends and techniques to keep the show fresh, relevant and reflective of the industry,” says Dorothy McKinley-Soressi, vice president of industry relations for Empire Education Group. “We have worked hard to keep Masters of Beauty an exciting, accessible and economical education package for stylists around the country. We are excited to see who will be joining Nick on stage as the Next Master of Beauty.”

Second and Third Place winners also receive a cash prize, three Masters of Beauty Skill Classes and the opportunity to attend a Beauty Systems Group event.

A complete list of prizes and contest rules can be found on the contest web sitewww.facebook.com/mastersofbeauty.

Stylists are invited to enter the opening round immediately. Quarter-finalists will be chosen October 5, 2011.

Next month, Empire plans to launch a contest specifically for its students called “Master Apprentice.” Current students at any Empire Education Group school can compete to win an apprenticeship at Arrojo Studio in NYC. Contest details will be released at Empire’s Future Professionals Expo, May 16th.
